Step 1: Check Your Eligibility To become a driving instructor, you must meet certain eligibility requirements. You must:

  • Be at least 21 years old

  • Hold a full UK driving license for at least three years

  • Have no more than six penalty points on your driving license

  • Pass a criminal record check

  • Meet the eyesight requirements for driving

Step 2: Take a Qualification Course To become a qualified driving instructor, you must take a qualification course approved by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA). There are three parts to the course:

  • Part 1: Theory and Hazard Perception Test
